NEW XLR8R MAG FEATURES MONDAY NIGHT BANDS & FANS IN FULL-PAGE LAYOUT & DVD REVIEW!!!

New L.A. music is starting to get some serious national exposure!

The new issue of XLR8R Magazine has an entire page devoted to “micro-music communities” and a 40 BANDS 80 MINUTES! DVD review.

The layout is super-cool. There’s a HUGE video still of John from Health in mid-drum (surrounded by Omega, Cole, Kyle, and others) taken from the movie.

The mag also name drops Bizzart, Demonslayer, Harassor, Explogasm, I Rape Nick Lachey, and Wives.

Here’s what it looks like… text below:

40 Bands/80 Minutes! (Sounds Are Active) documents a Monday night all-ages show at Los Angeles’ ll Corral (a former sweat-shop), where 40 bands each played two-minute sets. Covering everything from post- hip-hop (Bizzart vs. Demonslayer) to sludge metal (Harassor) to sheer insanity (Explogasm, I Rape Nick Lachey), it’s a glimpse into the anything-goes mentality of L.A.’s experimental rock underground. Notable moments include a “performance” from local Rob Williams, who makes a complex ham sandwich with his feet, and the cathartic last show from The Wives. Some bands pack enough pretentiousness in two minutes to make Thurston Moore blush, but the film is ultimately charming, making one wish more shows were this concise.”

So that’s cool—XLR8R paid attention to us and said some nice things, and you can’t ask for much more than that 🙂

More soon.

Peace
