I just nominated NASA Space Universe for the last space shuttle flight

These are the graphics you get with a taxpayer-funded space program

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has read and shared “Ripped from the headlines.” This feature appears every weekday at 3am EST on SEANCARNAGE.COM. I put a lot of work into those links. My rule is: no bullshit. If you have anything you think I should link to, email me.

One recent “Ripped” link that I kept thinking about was NASA’s search for the final “wakeup song” for the space shuttle. It seems that every day in space begins with a special pump-up jam. So NASA is having a contest to see who gets the last play on the space shuttle’s cassette deck (the shuttle dates from the early ’80s, so I assume they use cassettes).

Who better to provide the soundtrack for this very historic last shuttle flight than this coming Monday Night’s headliners NASA Space Universe?

So what the heck…I nominated them.

Here’s the NASA Space Universe song I nominated for the space shuttle’s final mission:

You can read an interview with the band and hear another exclusive track here.

You can enter your own songs in the space shuttle contest right here. One caveat: voting is not until February of 2011!

But you don’t have to wait that long—you can jam out to space rock this Monday…
