ONE NIGHT, TWO GREAT SHOWS: OSCAR SANTOS & “L.A.’S GREATEST MUSICIANS” AT 1830, AND DON BOLLES’ BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA FEAT. PAUL ROESSLER, NORA KEYES, & A CAST OF THOUSANDS!!!
Saturday night I decided to experience two relatively new venues in Echo Park, 1830 (next to the Echo) and The Cog (behind Barker’s Marionette Theater). I had a fantastic time, the music was great and I partied until dawn!

1830… What a great place! There were so many musicians playing… The roof was a fun place to hang out, too.

The place was packed…

Clyde from Weekend Warrior…. leaving for SF soon

The color/musical phrase combinations Oscar devised for the score

Creating the final score…

Oscar created this… he is also in Monday night favorite band Fuckin’ A

This computer sent colors to many video projectors around the space

Oscar, Michael Bauer, and others about to play

Sam makes last minute adjustments

It begins…

After six or so whirlwind moments, the music ended… It was a great experience

SHOW #2!!! Next, I went over to The Cog, which is on Glendale Blvd. and run by the nice people in the band Hard Place. Here are Darcey and Lily at the door… Just like old times at Club Screwball!

The amazing Kat and the Don Bolles all-star band

This place was also packed… and hot and crazy. Woo! Fun!!

Paul Roessler… he was in the Screamers and 45 Grave, among other classic L.A. bands…. nice guy, too.

This band was really great… I hope this is not just a one-time deal

The birthday boy, Don Bolles, lead the ensemble through a set of new material and 45 Grave classics

OMG… it’s HEAVY THUNDARR!!!

Nora Keyes!!!
