New video alert: Chapter 24
Band name: Chapter 24 (referencing Syd Barrett)
Place of origin: London, England
Personnel: Claire (singer), Mel (bassist), Joe (guitarist), Mark (drummer).
I read a bunch of reviews for you where the reviewer referred to your rhythms as “tropical.” Do you feel a kinship with this wave of bands that cite afro-beat as an influence?
Not really, we’re more influenced at the moment by late 70s punk, the riot grrrl scene (The Raincoats, The Slits, Bratmobile).
Upcoming shows: KXLU-FM (Tuesday, March 22), and of course Monday night, March 21, at Pehrspace.
Do you have anything special planned for Monday’s Chapter 24 show?
It’s our first time in L.A. so we’re just gonna stick to what we know I reckon.
What are your expectations?
We’ve read bits about it and been in touch with a few people so are hoping for good times but on the whole a bit unsure of what it’s actually gonna be like.
You guys have a lot going on musically, do you all share wild musical tastes or does each person bring in a specific genre on their own?
Well we all listen to a lot of different stuff all the time and, yeah, we share it with each other so we’re all open to what the rest of the band are listening to and where they’re getting ideas from rather than sticking to specific genres.

This event was set up long before the tragedies in Japan.
But in light of current developments, we will be accepting donations for the American Red Cross this Monday for Japan relief. More details soon.
