Wow this was an amazing birthday party for one of the best guys ever—CHRIS PAYNE! You know and love his “Whitman” music—he’s super-talented, that’s for sure. And he’s one of the nicest and most thoughtful people as well. He’s been in Phoenix and on tour for awhile, so it was great to welcome him back and celebrate his b-day with him. Chris picked all the bands for this show and I would say the performers pretty accurately represented the many facets of Chris’ interests in music with equal time given to songwriters, improvisers, acoustic music, noise, performance art-type hijinks, total chaos, and some kinda serious emotional stuff, too… Yay, Chris!!!!
