NEW OLD PHOTOS: OUTSIDER FOLK TAKES OVER A SEAN CARNAGE MONDAY NIGHT!!!
Hey, everybody, check these pics out—they are from a few weeks back. Better late than never, right? I was without a camera in early May (just bought a new one—it rocks!), so it took a while to get these, but here they are, finally: the Outsider Folk photos at long last.
I know there is some resistance to folk and acoustic music from the Monday Night audience. I have not always been the biggest booster of this genre myself.
But what Matt (aka Mycroft Holmes, aka Outsider Folk major domo and organizer/booker) is doing with the acoustic scene is really revolutionary. I mean, it’s not high-decibel music (actually, a few of these acts were totally rippin’), but you can still drink a brew and get rowdy while you listen. There was zero preciousness here!
If and when we collabo again, I hope y’all will check it out. Besides noise, besides rock, besides electro, Los Angeles has a slew of folk performers that are pushing the boundaries of music… and that’s exactly what Monday Nights are all about.
Every performer did a stellar job this night, and it was a pleasure to host!
