Happy New Year, everyone!!!

I am so thankful for Richmond, Kyle, Jon, Chris and all the people in my life, our great L.A. noise makers and, of course, Il Corral (Bob, Christie, Stane, Burgess & Cory) for making 2006 so awesome.

2007 is going to be even better.

The New Il Corral Monday season kicks off with DJ Kyle Mabson and Robin Williams on Fire (the Bay), Laco$te, Narwhalz (Richmond, VA), Yvonne (SF), This Song Is A Mess But So Am I and Beach Balls this Monday, January 8th. Don’t miss it!

On the 15th, everyone who attends gets a free “jock porn” DVD shot in Lake Havasu courtesy of me and the Fag Bashers.

Also, make sure not to miss Omega’s Birthday show at Il Corral this Friday or Bob Bellerue’s show at Dangerous Curves Gallery or Kyle Mabson’s show with Health at the Smell on Saturday or Ima Fucking Gymnist at Prestigious House Of Vermont. Whew! This is gonna be a busy weekend.

Disclaimer: Have you noticed? I am really jazzed about the 40 BANDS 80 MINUTES! DVD. It is like our prank against the system—like spray-painting something beautiful on the side of an ugly wreck (in this case, the film & music industries).

So I am gonna put a lot of 40 BANDS! news up here as the year goes on. If this gets annoying, I apologize in advance. It’s just something I’m enthusiatic about. I know I’m a nerd!

With this in mind, links I post to establishment media outlets that have reviews or mentions of 40 BANDS 80 MINUTES! are in no way an endorsement of said outlets.

I’m from Ohio—I have a very cynical view of the media. When you’ve lived outside the nerve center of the media industry, you get used to being ridiculed and, most times, ignored.

We are very lucky in L.A. to have 1) a huge population, 2) a super-concentration of media companies, and 3) lots of talented people.

Looking at the longterm and doing something quality are my goals. I know that sometimes media outlets are totally, heinously wrong in their assessments and they can turn on you at any time even when they praise you. But when you do something quality—which is the case of everyone who participated in 40 BANDS!—it will ultimately transcend the bad AND good reviews.

The reason we have to keep interfacing with these media companies is that there are a lot of curious, intelligent and sometimes lonely people out there that we might reach through mass-media splatter effect. That’s who we make the stuff for, not the stupid companies who write about it. [Sean gets down off soapbox.]

This was a huge four month struggle to get listed on this site. The film industry is hopelessly against DVD projects. Fuck ’em. Not all the info has posted yet, so PLEASE DON’T BE UPSET IF YOU DON’T SEE YOUR NAME! I submitted everyone’s name and credit; I am gonna continue emailing IMDb until everyone is listed.
