I’m usually making mini-documentaries about L.A. rock and noise, but here’s something new and different.

Tetricide: Inside the 8-bit Aesthetic is my video preview of Walt Gorecki’s super fun ‘n sexy new art gallery show that opens this Saturday.

I’m really grateful to Tetricide curator/creator Walt Gorecki for taking time out and rounding up the artists so that I could record them. Thanks also to each artist for letting me use your works in this video.

This weekend is an Echo Park art party weekend!

I hope you will join me at the Tom of Finland Foundation this Friday, July 9, at 6pm to honor the art of poster artist Danimal. (There’s a great concert afterwards featuring XBXRX, Gay Beast, Sisterfucker, Raw War, NASA Space Universe and more.)

Then on Saturday at 8pm at Pehrspace, you must not miss the Tetricide opening:

The show features work by J.R.Baldwin, Rachel Cole, Stanislaus Dyro III, William Lu, Craig Miller, Luis Naranjo, PFFR Studios, John Pham, Clark Walter, Austin Wolf-Sothern, and Sam Yurick.

There will also be musical entertainment from Back to the Future the Ride, Howardamb, Wet Mango, and DJs Dewtron, Control-walt-Delete, and Ikea Cole.
