Fifteen years ago—on March 6th, 2006—fifty-two of L.A.’s best underground bands and performers queued up at the Il Corral for a two-minute, no-retakes shot at glory.

Well whaddya know? These artists found immortality. The recordings we made turned into legendary Los Angeles music scene documentary, 40 BANDS / 80 MINUTES! 

Our little movie was called “best of the year” by the L.A. Times, was championed by an up-and-coming movie-at-home service called Netflix (you may have heard of them), and led to a worldwide screening tour that I still can’t believe we pulled off. Last year the remastered movie was screened a standing room-only event that was one of the last large gatherings before the pandemic lockdown kicked in.
