Quote: “People ask us if we’re twins all the time. We’re not even related! We’re just fetishists.”
The Real Noriegas play incredible music, but they are also kinda shy. What are they thinking about? I dunno. Let’s ask…
Hey, Brendan. Hey, Liam. Have you always lived in L.A.?
Yes.
How did you find out about bands and music and stuff? When did you start playing music and writing your owns songs?
The internet. We started writing songs around 2004
What would your biggest musical and artistic influences be?
[No response]
You were in the Amazements. When did you start that band and why?
The Amazements started around 2003. We started the band for the usual reasons that teenagers have. We were very young and naive.
What happened to the Amazements? You stopped right about the time your CD was ready. Did that cause tensions?
Three’s a crowd.
When did Real Noriegas start?
We started last march.
What genre would you put yourselves in? What do you call the kind of music you make?
Its a combination of high drama and stupidity, so basically its rock and roll.
What’s your proudest accomplishment as a band?
The fans.
Please tell us about the recording you have been working on.
We’ve been working on a cassette EP release for Peter’s Pool Boys. It was supposed to be released in July. Hopefully we’ll finish it before July 2011.
What’s your favorite show you’ve ever played and why?
There have been moments that definitely felt good. We had a song called head on a stick, so one st. Patricks day we played pehrspace and during that song we pulled out a head on a stick and passed it through the crowd. I don’t think it was our best performance though. But there was this one time we played this show, I don’t quite remember where or when, but it was good.
If you were to write a theme song for Los Angeles in 2010, what would it be called? And how would the lyrics go?
It would probably be called “Laid and Paid” and some of lyrics would go: “to be or not to be, that is a question, to be laid and paid in L.A. is the only option.”
